My philosophy is based on my firm belief and understanding in the body's natural ability to heal itself. Khabir
My approach to health-care is holistic. I seek to generally understanding the condition of each bodily system and major organ. I identifying toxins and congestion in accordance to their signs and symptoms. I look at patterns of eating, working, resting, sleeping and exercising. I question about energy, hungry and stress levels throughout the day. The body must be addressed holistically as it's needs cannot be isolated.
"The part can never be well unless the whole is well" – Plato, 356 B.C.E.
I look for the root imbalances. Looking for the root cause, treating the underlying disturbance, and restoring balance are more important than simply treating the symptoms even with herbs and supplements.
"The physician should not treat the disease but the patient who is suffering from it." Maimonides
I identify sub-optimal functioning. Before we develop a disease, there have usually been months or even years of progressive wearing down of optimal functioning. From this perspective, common sub-clinical health conditions such as gas, bloating, constipation, low stomach acids, stiff muscles, poor sleep, skin discoloration, headaches and others are health concerns that need to be addressed not ignored.
"Vitality and Beauty are gifts of Nature for those who live according to its laws." Leonardo Da Vinci
Everyone is unique. Just like we all have unique physical features and personalities, we also all have unique internal and biochemical make-ups. Every individual is distinct in how we digest food, which particular foods nourish us, which ones we are sensitive to, and how our bodies detoxify pollutants.
"One man's food is another man's poison" Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius
I believe in the extraordinary healing power of ordinary things. Music, relaxation, sunlight, plants, walking barefoot, optimism, having meaning in one’s life, connection with others, pets and many other things we take for granted have extraordinary healing powers. For most of us, most of the time, it’s the simple, ordinary things we can do for our health that are more valuable than the high-tech, expensive options that are out there.
"Walking is man's best medicine." Hippocrates
The body has an innate capacity to heal itself. Although we take it for granted, the body is engaged in self-healing all the time. When you cut yourself, your body heals the cut. When you get a cold, the body’s immune system usually fights it off after a few days. Your body is continually healing and repairing itself. Only the body can “cure” itself and only the individual themselves can do the work.
"If you are not your own doctor, you are a fool." Hippocrates
Self-care is the healing modality of the future. Our body is calling for sufficient nutrition, enzymes, a proper balance of minerals and vitamins, ample exercise, rest and regular sleep, fresh air, sunshine, pure water, a healthy mental-emotional life and minimal stress. Self-care is about understanding these needs and working proactively to provide them.
"Let food be thy medicine, and let thy medicine be food." Hippocrates
Good health requires being proactive. Becoming proactive in one’s health is essential but difficult because there are so many powerful forces that work to undermine our ability to be truly healthy. We need to take responsibility for our own health, the health of our families, our society, and the world at large. The small choices we make on a daily basis affect our resilience, our health, and our quality of life.
"Stay close to nature and its eternal laws will protect you." – Dr. Max Gerson, the Gerson Therapy
Develop a Self-care program to follow. To recover from a chronic health condition or maintain good health, each person needs their own unique self-care program made up of specific dietary guidelines, a supplement schedule, suitable herbal formulas, lifestyle recommends and recommended therapies.
"Instead of thinking in terms of treating disease, we must learn to think in terms of building health and addressing the needs of each individual." Khabir
